Our Story

The Seed is a Christian church that meets exclusively online. We use social media such as Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube to meet together, get to know each other, interact, learn, support and encourage each other. Our church is not limited by time zones, location, or walls. Live events can take place round-the-clock, and our blogs and videos are available 24/7.
We are just getting started, which means you can be part of planting The Seed and watching it grow. Plans include things such as studies, support groups, art classes, dinner & movie nights, book clubs, kids activities, service projects, and prayer times. It will include things you can read, watch, and do. There will be plenty of time to meet face to face on Zoom so we can get to know each other, hang out together, and share conversation, interests, stories, support, encouragement, laughter and fun.
In the midst of it all, we will learn about God - who he is, what he is like, what he does, and how we can have a relationship with him that changes our lives forever.
You will encounter many leaders at The Seed. Our Pastor, Vicki Podjasek, went to seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL and Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland OH. Our denomination is Brethren in Christ. You can learn more about the denomination HERE.

Why Church Online?

God is not limited to space and time, so we don’t need to put these types of limitations on doing church together either. The church is not a place, it’s a group of people who share common belief and behavior.
Not everyone has the opportunity to participate in the life and services of a local church. This can be due to age, illness, lack of transportation, or simply because it seems too intimidating. The Seed aims to offer a safe place to gather regardless of all these hurdles and more.

Below are our core values and house rules.

Experiencing God’s Love and Grace
We value the free gift of salvation in Christ Jesus and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

Believing the Bible
We value the Bible as God’s authoritative Word, study it together, and build our lives on its truth.

Worshiping God
We value heartfelt worship that is God-honoring, Spirit-directed, and life-changing.

Following Jesus
We value wholehearted obedience to Christ Jesus through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.

We value integrity in relationships and mutual accountability in an atmosphere of grace, love,
and acceptance. Therefore, we have a few rules...

-
No vulgar, obscene, hateful, or discriminating language will be tolerated.
-
Political matters are also a place where comments can easily offend. The seed is not a place for political opinions or debate.
-
The Seed is not a place for deep theological debates, unless the event is specifically advertised as such. Such debates can too easily offend, and tend to exclude those who are exploring or new to faith. There is a time and place for everything.
-
Because we value ALL people, we do not tolerate offensive comments about politicians, music/film stars, or any other famous or not famous person for any reason.
-
The Seed reserves the right to make these judgement calls and to mute and/or stop the video of any participant who does not abide.
-
Repeat offenders could lose their privileges to participate in the future, but it is our hope & prayer to include everyone!
-
We encourage open, friendly conversation, questions, and mutual encouragement.
Belonging & Participating
Serving
We value serving others at their point
of need, following the example of
our Lord Jesus. Therefore…

-
The Seed will regularly post suggestions that will help you serve your friends, neighbors, coworkers and family in ways that will help build strong relationships.
-
Serving others also creates opportunities to invite your neighbors, coworkers and family to participate in events here at The Seed.
Simple Living
We value uncluttered lives, which free us to love boldly, give generously, and serve joyfully. Therefore…

-
The Seed will offer videos, blogs and studies on things like frugal living, managing your money well, and other related topics.
-
Our aim is never to dictate how you should live. We simply teach what the Bible has to say about these matters and give you fun (even trendy) suggestions to help you apply it in your day to day life.

We value all human life and promote forgiveness, understanding, reconciliation, and non-violent resolution of conflict.
